Current Construction and Road Closures

The Schuyler County Highway Department is pleased to announce its Road and Bridge work program for the 2026 construction season. The County has continued the investment on preserving our current infrastructure utilizing surface treatment and hot mix asphalt overlays.

Below is an overview of the planned projects for the Schuyler County Highway Department for 2026.

Capital Bridge Projects

Croton Road Bridge over Catharine Creek, Town of Montour, Bridge Rehabilitation

• Bids due April 2, 2026 with work to be completed June – September, 2026
• Hunt Engineers to conduct construction inspection 

County Road 1 over Bolter Creek, Town of Hector, Bridge Replacement

• CHA Consulting to complete design and construction anticipated 2027
• BRIDGENY project, Federal 95%, Local 5%

2026 Capital Road Projects

CR-16; Town of Orange, from 1750 CR-16 (bus turn) to Steuben County line, 7.5 miles

• County forces to increase clear-zones and improve roadside drainage
  • Cold In-Place Recycling and 1 ½” Top Course Hot Mix Asphalt

Oil and Stone/Chip Seal Projects

CR- 4; Town of Hector, from SR-79 to CR-1  =  7.5 miles
CR-6; Town of Hector/Catharine, from SR-228 to Vanloon Rd = 7.1 miles 
CR-16; Town of Dix, from SR-414 to Village of Montour line = 0.4 miles
CR-17; Town of Dix, from SR-329 of SR-414 = 1.9 miles
CR-29; Town of Reading, from SR-14A to Yates County line = 1.8 miles
